One of the more comprehensive sources of data on youth behavior is the YRBS - a survey of "risk" behavior administered in each state under the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control - with questions regarding bullying, sexual behavior, food choices, substance use, sleep, physical activity, and more. Ohio statistics are available via the Ohio Department of Health website: https://odh.ohio.gov/wps/portal/gov/odh/know-our-programs/Youth-Risk-Behavior-Survey/Youth-Risk-Behavior-Survey
The YRBS is administered in selected public schools on odd years. In 2015 and 2017, not enough schools participated to allow for weighted data that would be recognized by the CDC, which is why Ohio is not nationally-represented in 2015 and 2017 data sets.
In 2019, the YRBS was combined with the Youth Tobacco Survey, which allowed for more participation. 2019 is also the first year that middle school students were included in the state-wide surveying. In March of 2020, Sara Haig of the Ohio Department of Health presented an overview of the 2019 data to OAHP members. A pdf of that PowerPoint is available for download via the link below.
